About

Kate Samankova is a Ukrainian abstract painter based in the UK, whose work is inspired by the ever-changing sky and the ephemeral beauty of clouds. Her paintings explore the transient nature of time through shifting forms, subtle light, and atmospheric layers.
She graduated with First Class Honours from Nottingham Trent University where she developed her distinctive visual language rooted in observation and emotion. In September 2025, she will begin her MA Fine Art: Painting at University of the Arts London.
Kate’s process is central to her work. Transparent layers of oil paint reminiscent of watercolor allow light to filter through the surface, evoking a sense of airiness and impermanence. Cascading drips suggest the flow of time while sculptural palette knife marks add texture and presence, anchoring the softness of the skies she paints.
Her art invites quiet reflection on fleeting moments above us, capturing the subtle beauty of clouds in constant motion.
